Independent Oil & Gas Appoints Mark Hughes As Chief Operating Officer

LONDON (Alliance News) - Independent Oil & Gas PLC said Thursday its has appointed Mark Hughes to its board as chief operating officer.

Hughes - a qualified civil engineer and chartered mechanical engineer - has held senior management roles at several international oil and gas companies including Royal Dutch Shell PLC, Lasmo and Gaz de France. Most recently he was head of development for RWE Dea UK where he was responsible for the Breagh and Clipper South developments in the North Sea before becoming commercial director for INEOS Breagh.

CEO Andrew Hockey said: "Having worked in the industry for 39 years, Mark has significant sector experience and we are delighted that he is joining our team. As we move towards the full development of our SNS assets Mark's North Sea experience and commercial expertise perfectly complements the rest of the senior management team and we look forward to working with him."

Shares in Independent were up 0.6% to 15.85 pence each.
