Independent News & Media Appoints Murdoch MacLennan As Chairman

LONDON (Alliance News) - Independent News & Media PLC said Wednesday it has appointed Murdoch MacLennan as non-executive chairman, effective immediately.

The Irish newspaper publisher earlier in the month appointed MacLennan as director. MacLennan is currently deputy chairman of Telegraph Media Group, having formerly been chief executive for 13 years. He is also currently chairman of the Press Association Group and is a member of the Board of International News Media Association.

MacLennan succeeds Leslie Buckley, who decided to step down at the company's extraordinary general meeting held on the first day of March.

London listed shares in the media company were untraded at EUR0.10 on Wednesday.

The Dublin-based media firm's titles include the Evening Herald, the Irish Independent, and the Sunday World.
