IN BRIEF: Yamana Gold shares up amid quarterly rise in output

8th Jul 2022 09:49

Yamana Gold Inc - Toronto, Canada-based mining company - Says gold equivalent production in the second quarter rises to 260,960 ounces from 241,341 ounces a year ago. Gold production during the quarter grows to 232,542 ounces year-on-year from 210,533 ounces in the quarter ended March 31.

Silver production amounts to 2.36 million ounces, compared to 2.2 million ounces in the last quarter. Yamana Gold said the gold equivalent production has "exceeded budget despite the gold to silver ration being near an all-time high".

Cash and cash equivalents increase by more than USD30 million to a total quarter-end cash balance of over USD328 million from USD298 million at the end of first quarter. The "operating results comfortably position the company to achieve both its annual production and cost guidance," Yamana says. In February, the mining firm said it expected to produce at least one million gold equivalent ounces in 2022.
