Witan Investment Trust PLC - listed company investor - Updates market on talks with dissenting shareholders after 21% voted against reappointment of Anthony Watson as non-executive. Witan said it would have been "inappropriate" if Watson, as senior independent director, retired at same time as chair, hence his reelection. Witan says deferring retirement until 2021 was more prudent. Investment company adds that length of service does not "impair" ability to be independent.
