Numis Corp PLC - London-based stockbroker and investment bank - Revenue for the financial year that ends Thursday is expected to be around GBP215 million, up 39% from GBP154.9 million the year before, pushing profit "significantly higher" than the pretax profit of GBP37.1 million recorded in financial 2020. Numis says that, while there was a pause in initial public offerings in London over the summer, this was offset by mergers and acquisitions for its investment banking business.
It expects to launch "a number of" IPOs in coming weeks. Investment banking revenue will exceed GBP150 million in the recent year, up from GBP101.7 million last year. The equities trading business also had a strong second half, Numis says, though lower than an exceptional first half. "Given the favourable market backdrop we increased the capital allocated to our trading books and delivered good, and consistent, trading profits throughout year," Numis says.
