IN BRIEF: Standard Chartered buys back over USD1 billion of securities

Standard Chartered PLC - London-based bank - Reports the expiration of its invitation to holders of its USD2.00 billion fixed rate resetting perpetual subordinated contingent convertible securities to tender up to USD1.25 billion of these securities for repurchase by the company for cash. On Tuesday, USD5.3 million of the securities were validly tendered and not validly withdrawn in addition to the USD995.7 million of securities tendered prior to the early tender deadline. The company says it has accepted for purchase all of the additional tendered securities.
