Science Group PLC - Cambridge-based research and regulatory consultancy services - Says it has purchased 58.8 million shares in Reading-based software consultant TP Group PLC for 6.5 pence each, GBP3.8 million in total. Now has just short on an 18% stake in TP. On Monday, Science Group said it is unlikely to buy TP while its board refuses to cooperate, but held out the prospect of a future deal. TP said Science Group's latest takeover proposal was worth 5.8 pence per share. TP dubbed the proposal as "opportunistic, conditional and unsolicited" on Tuesday.
