IN BRIEF: Resolute Mining defers Syama plant shutdown to February 2022

27th Sep 2021 14:34

Resolute Mining Ltd - Australian gold miner - Defers 36-day shutdown of its Syama sulphide processing circuit in Mali to refurbish the Roaster refractory lining. Now plans to carry out the shutdown in February 2022. This was previously scheduled for October. Says the deferral to next year reduces potential delays associated with an extended wet season, which usually runs from June to October in Mali.

"Condition monitoring systems implemented in the last major shutdown in late 2019 show that the Roaster structure remains in good condition and supports the delay of the shutdown to February 2022," the company adds.

Shutdown includes 7-days of routine maintenance and the installation of an onstream analyser and sulphide cleaner cells, which are expected to further improve the performance of the sulphide processing circuit. Brings forward mill relining to directly follow routine maintenance, in order to reduce downtime. Together these actions result in 36 total days of shutdown.

Says performance of the sulphide processing circuit during the quarter ending September 30 has been in line with the prior quarter and expectations. Maintains production guidance of between 315,000 ounces to 340,000 ounces for the full year, at an all in sustaining cost of between USD1,290 and USD1,365 per ounce.
