IN BRIEF: Rainbow Rare Earths Completes Phalaborwa Rare Earths Project

7th Jan 2021 13:40

Rainbow Rare Earths Ltd - Burundi, East Africa-focussed rare earth element miner - Completes an auger drilling programme at the Phalaborwa rare earths project ahead of schedule and under budget. Says the project planned to deliver an inferred JORC (2012) resource classification, within the 35 million tonne gypsum stacks, and assay samples have been sent to laboratories owned by SGS South Africa Pty Ltd, with results expected during the first quarter of 2021.

"Based on previous sampling campaigns, the gypsum stacks contain rare earth elements with an estimated average in situ grade of 0.6% total rare earth oxides, of which an estimated 30% is Neodymium and Praseodymium, vital metals for the green revolution. Defining an inferred resource for Phalaborwa will represent an important step in validating the project's considerable potential as a significant producer of Neodymium and Praseodymium, enabling us to define and progress the optimal route to commercial production," says Chief Executive George Bennett.
