Quadrise Fuels International PLC - London-based residual oil technology licensor - Enters a joint development agreement with lignin biofuel specialists Vertoro BV to progress the use of Vertoro's CSO, an advanced crude sugar oil, as a potential cost-effective supplement or alternative to glycerine in Quadrise's bioMSAR fuel. bioMSAR is an oil-in-water emulsified synthetic biofuel, with lower emissions than conventional fuels.
Vertoro Chief Executive Officer Michael Boot says: "Sugar has been Mother Nature's fuel of choice for over 3 billion years. Today, we announce a unique pathway to use our crude sugar oil, produced from sustainable forestry and agricultural 2G biomass residues, as a drop-in for heavy fuel oil-based biofuels through this new partnership with Quadrise."
Vertoro supplies biomass-based biofuels extracted from agricultural and forestry residues using its proprietary Goldilocks technology. Says the total market for lignin residues is estimated to be about 200 billion tonnes per annum.
