IN BRIEF: Powerhouse Energy says collaboration gets government funding

Powerhouse Energy Group PLC - Bingley, England-based hydrogen-from-waste-plastic producer - Says University of Manchester granted research funding for development and validation of a "potentially game-changing" hydrogen separation technique. New technique extracts hydrogen from synthesis gas produced by company's DMG process. DMG is a new type of Chemical Recycling, a form of advanced thermal conversion technology. Team of researchers at the university, led by Amir Keshmiri has receive government funding to work with company to undertake the project. Objective is to enable and encourage swifter adoption of local, cleaner, low carbon energy, addressing the growing unrecyclable waste issue while working within the existing waste hierarchy framework.

Chief Operating Officer Paul Emmitt says "the project will allow PHE to edge closer to overcoming significant cost barriers through innovation to deliver the next generation of cleaner energy technology. The pioneering technique, if commercialised, would enable the faster rollout of low carbon hydrogen. The project has the potential to significantly reduce the cost of hydrogen extraction from syngas."

Current stock price: 1.52, up 9.5% in London on Friday
