Nanoco Group PLC - Runcorn, England-based developer of cadmium-free quantum dots and other nanomaterials - Nanoco says it will receive a USD5 million gross payment from South Korea's LG Electronics Inc in connection with the patent infringement lawsuit that it filed with a court in Texas back in April. Nanoco says it reached a no-fault agreement with LG that resolves the litigation. The other terms of the agreement are confidential, it says.
Nanoco had retained Dallas-based law firm Caldwell, Cassady & Curry, which had been part of the legal team involved in Nanoco's successful litigation against LG compatriot Samsung Electronics Co. At the time, Nanoco had said its lawsuit against LG didn't specify the amount of monetary damages that it was seeking, saying this was to be established. It had won USD150 million from Samsung, retaining USD90 million of that after litigation costs. On Thursday, Nanoco says its cost to date for the LG litigation is USD600,000.
