IN BRIEF: Mike Ashley's Frasers Group takes 5.8% stake in Puma

6th Mar 2026 07:15

Puma SE - Herzogenaurach, Germany-based sportswear maker - UK retailer Frasers Group PLC, has built a 5.8% stake in Puma, primarily via derivatives. A filing by Puma on Thursday shows that Frasers had 148.0 voting rights as of Tuesday. The 5.8% stake is composed of 0.2% shares and 5.6% put options. The options have maturity dates of April 17, September 18 and December 18. Mike Ashley, the founder and majority shareholder of Frasers, is named in Puma's stock market announcement but the holding is shown as being held by Frasers, rather than Ashley directly or via his investment vehicle Mash Holdings Ltd. However, Ashley has a 73.3% interest in Frasers, according to the most recent filing by Frasers. Puma has a market capitalisation of EUR3.35 billion, so a 5.8% stake is worth EUR193.3 million.

Current stock price: EUR22.62, closed up 4.5% in Frankfurt on Thursday

12-month change: down 24%
