IN BRIEF: Kosmos Energy says under-construction vessel hit by typhoon

19th Sep 2022 12:59

Kosmos Energy Ltd - oil and gas producer focused on Ghana, Guinea and the US Gulf of Mexico - Says partner BP PLC informs Kosmos that the floating production, storage and offloading vessel being built for the pair's Greater Tortue Ahmeyim project was unmoored by a storm. The FPSO being built in a shipyard in Qidong, China, drifted 200 meters off the quayside after mooring lines became compromised during Typhoon Muifa. Kosmos says the vessel is being returned to the quayside, and the cost of this and any potential damage is expected to be covered by insurance. The Greater Tortue Ahmeyim project is offshore Mauritania and Senegal in west Africa and is operated by BP.
