IQE PLC - Cardiff, Wales-based semiconductor company - Plans to close Singapore site by mid-2022. The site has been part of the IQE since 2006 and manufactures epiwafers for photo detectors and radio frequency applications using molecular beam epitaxy. The company says it will transfer the expertise, intellectual property and assets from Singapore to its Taiwan and North Carolina sites. The closure is aligned to IQE's strategy of consolidating operations into strategic sites with superior economies of scale and production flexibility.
