Harvest Minerals Ltd - Arapua fertiliser project in Brazil - Starts construction of solar power facility which is expected to be commissioned in five months, after which will supply all of the Arapua fertiliser project's power needs.
The modular design for the plant is expected to allow capacity to be increased as production ramps up, and the company's operating expenditure is set to be reduced by 8% through a drop in energy costs.
In total, 276.8 kilowatts peak will be installed, including 622 solar modules of 445 watts peak each.
"We are therefore delighted to strengthen our zero-carbon strategy with a solar energy initiative that will not only significantly reduce our carbon footprint but will also deliver substantial and ongoing cost savings. Furthermore, given both large agricultural and smaller retail customers are increasingly looking holistically at the processes along the whole supply chain in their quest to source low-impact, high-quality, organic fertilisers, we are positioned to capture these customers and build sales," said Chair Brian McMaster.
