IN BRIEF: Dekel Agri-Vision cashew project close to first production

16th Jun 2021 06:53

Dekel Agri-Vision PLC - West Africa-focused agriculture company - Says construction phase at its cashew processing plant at Tiebissou in Ivory Coast is nearing completion. Dekel holds a 71% interest in the project. Plans to purchase between 3,000 and 3,500 tonnes of raw cashew nuts before production kicks off. Says first production is "only a number of weeks away", with the recruitment process of its workforce in advanced stages.

"Substantial progress has been made over the past few months to bring the the Cashew Project to first production. Bringing the project so close to first production during Covid-19 has not been without its challenges and we are appreciative of the efforts of our operating management and key vendors. The commencement of cashew buying activity in the Tiebissou region demonstrates management's confidence that commissioning and first production is only a number of weeks away," says Executive Director Lincoln Moore.

"Aside from first production, [the second half of] 2021 will include a number of key milestones, as we look to fine tune the entire production cycle from purchasing, processing to sale as well as maximising profit margins, as we head into the first full year of production in 2022," Moore adds.
