IN BRIEF: Computacenter expects "modest" profit growth amid investment

28th Oct 2022 09:40

Computacenter PLC - Hatfield, Hertfordshire-based computer services - Says 2022 will be a year of "modest" adjusted profit before tax growth, but points to its previous "two exceptional years". Computacenter says 2022 is seeing the unwinding of cost and utilisation benefits that the business enjoyed during the Covid-19 pandemic. "We are benefiting from currency movements and the positive, but limited, contribution from our in-year acquisitions, but these are much smaller than the Covid headwinds," it explains.

All segments of Technology Sourcing put in a strong performance in the third quarter, Computacenter says, but Services business suffer from the Covid-19 benefit unwinding. Says Business IT Source, the US-based value-added reseller that it bought back in July, has performed well.

Looking towards 2023, it will be another year of growth, but investments in IT, especially cyber security, will hold back short-term profitability, the company says.

Computacenter will publish a pre-close trading update on January 30.
