City Pub Group PLC - London-based pub owner and operator - Opened 24 of its 48 pubs on July 4, when UK pubs were allowed to reopen after easing of lockdown restrictions, with a further eight pubs opening in the following two weeks. The group hopes to open the remaining pubs within the next two months. The group recorded good performance in the three weeks following July 4, with some pubs seeing a "significant increase" in trading due to domestic tourism. The three week period saw GBP1.8 million in sales, 63% on a like-for-like basis in the same three weeks of the year prior. The company is operating profitably after reducing its cost base.
