Central Asia Metals PLC - copper, zinc and lead explorer operating in Kazakhstan and North Macedonia - Updates on its first quarter operations at Kounrad in Kazakhstan, with copper production rising year-on-year to 3,336 tonnes from 3,024 tonnes. At Sasa in North Macedonia, zinc production falls to 4,917 tonnes from 5,240 tonnes, while lead production edged down to 6,618 tonnes from 6,736 tonnes a year earlier.
Looking ahead, targets copper production of 13,000 to 14,000 tonnes in 2023, zinc in concentrate production of 19,000 to 21,000 tonnes, and lead in concentrate at 27,000 to 29,000 tonnes.
Chief Executive Officer Nigel Robinson says: "We have had a solid start to 2023 with no lost time injuries at either site and a very good first quarter of production at Kounrad. We are on target to meet 2023 guidance at both sites. We also remain on track with our development projects at Sasa to start the transition to paste fill mining in H2 2023 and at Kounrad with the construction of our 4.77 megawatts solar plant."
