IN BRIEF: Carnival bolsters fleet; extends share purchase programme

Carnival PLC - Miami, Florida-based cruise ship company - Extends USD500 million share sale and share purchase programme to April 30. The programme is being run through agent BofA Securities Inc and was meant to end on Monday.

Notes in separate announcement that its Excel-class and LNG-powered Mardi Gras ship has taken on more than 110,000 guests since July 31, 2021.

"Since the restart of cruising, momentum continues to build across Carnival Cruise Line. Nearly one million guests have taken a cruise vacation with Carnival since the restart on more than 400 sailings," company says.

A third Excel-class ship, Carnival Jubilee, will begin operations from its homeport in Galveston, Texas in the autumn of 2023.

Notes in separate announcement the delivery of a new ship to join Princess Cruises fleet, christened Discovery Princess. Discovery Princess expands the Princess Cruises fleet to 15 medallion-class vessels and can hold 3,660 guests.
