IN BRIEF: Capital Gearing Trust says risk assets lead September gain

Capital Gearing Trust PLC - investment trust managed by Peter Spiller that seeks long-term absolute returns from a portfolio of equities, bonds, and commodities, using a low-cost approach without the use of gearing or short selling - Reports net asset value total return of 1.0% during September. Risk assets make up 27% of the trust's portfolio and contributed the most to the positive performance last month, it says. Risk assets are composed of funds and equities, at 26% of the portfolio, and gold at 1%. "During September, Capital Gearing Trust remained defensively positioned with a focus on inflation protection, in light of continued fiscal policy uncertainty and stretched equity valuations," it says. The return in the third quarter as a whole is 2.1%, and the year-to-date return in 2025 is 4.6%.
