IN BRIEF: Barings Emerging EMEA swings to profit on Covid recovery

Barings Emerging EMEA Opportunities PLC - investment company focused on Europe, Middle East and Africa - Says return before tax swung to GBP30.9 million for year ended September 30 from GBP24.7 million loss year before. Income totalled GBP4.5 million, a 25% increase from GBP4.5 million. Attributes this to economic recovery due to the vaccine programme. Adds that equities in emerging European, Middle Eastern and African performed strongly. Declares final dividend of 11 pence per share, up 10% from 10p per share. Total dividends in the year amounted to 26p, up 4% from 25p. Says net asset value per share increased 33% to 920.71p from 694.70. Cautions inflationary pressures and disruption to global supply lines might impact markets in the future. Remains optimistic and says liquidity is improving.
