abrdn Japan Investment Trust PLC - investor in listed Japanese companies - Reports net asset value in the year to March 31 fell 6.5% to 667.26 pence from 713.43p. Says Japanese equities faced an uphill struggle for much of the period with investors seemingly overly focused on the macro at the expense of company fundamentals which, for the most part, remain strong. Declares second interim dividend of 7p per share, making a total payout of 12p, down from 15p the year prior.
In May, the company announced terms for a proposed combination with the assets of NAVF, a UK investment trust. This is expected to improve the enlarged fund's liquidity as well as spreading the fixed costs of NAVF over a larger pool of assets.
