(Alliance News) - Immotion Group PLC on Thursday said it partnered with Spanish leisure operator Aspro Parks to place a virtual reality cinema pod in the Blue Planet Aquarium in Cheshire.
The Blue Planet Aquarium will become the first site in a potential roll-out of Immotion VR installations across Aspro's facilities, the company noted.
Beyond the Blue Planet Aquarium installation, and dependent on its success, Immotion said it is in talks for an installation in the Aspro-operated Bristol Aquarium with a further roll-out to other Aspro operated aquariums. Immotion noted that Aspro is one of the largest European operators of leisure parks with 68 locations across 10 countries including the UK, Spain, France and Germany.
Joining the Blue Planet Aquarium in signing deals with Immotion this week are SeaLife in Paris and Point Defiance in Tacoma, Washington.
Including these new partnerships, the immersive virtual reality company said it has added six new aquarium partner sites in recent weeks and has in excess of ten more sites in varying stages of completion.
"In many ways, Aspro is the perfect match for us in that they not only want the educational content for aquariums, but also can take advantage of the pure entertainment offerings like our multiplayer experiences and our bespoke roller coaster experiences in their other leisure sites," said Immotion Commercial Director Rod Findley.
"We are very confident that the ancillary revenue they will generate combined with the positive guest reaction, will prove a huge success for Aspro and for Immotion," added Findley.
Immotion shares were trading 2.6% higher in London on Thursday at 6.98 pence each.
