LONDON (Alliance News) - Immedia Group PLC on Thursday said its new subsidiary has won new contracts to supply FIFA with its Matchviewer tool, during four upcoming tournaments, and, as a trial, to control all content on FIFA TV's YouTube channel for the FIFA Futsal World Cup in Colombia.
Immedia shares were trading up 11% to 35.00 pence per share on Thursday.
Immedia acquired Aberdeen-based AVC Media last week for GBP200,000 before renaming the unit AVC Immedia. AVC was already working with FIFA and has been since the 1986 Football World Cup, during which it filmed and edited highlights from all the matches broadcast around the world.
Since then, the subsidiary has worked with FIFA, focusing at the grass root level.
Matchviewer, which was first used at the Japan World Cup in 2008, is a unique analysis software tool developed by AVC Immedia and used by FIFA since its launch. It allows FIFA's chosen delegates to access real-time sports content from mobile devices, whenever and wherever they choose.
"FIFA's delegates will be able to view match analysis in real time on Matchviewer, as a video with statistics. Post-match statistics will also be readily available seconds after the game has finished," Immedia said.
In the YouTube trial, AVC Immedia will control the FIFA TV YouTube channel, creating teasers for the tournament and analysis-style videos of Futsal World Cup action.
"AVC Immedia will also create 32 videos, showing some of the best football pitches in the world and how they are created. Video of Manchester City's training facility will be completed and uploaded by the end of September," said Immedia.
The four tournaments covered by the latest contract are the FIFA Futsal World Cup in Colombia, the FIFA U-20 and U-17 Women's Football World Cup, and the FIFA Club World Cup Japan. Futsal is a fast-paced small-sided football game that is widely played around the world.
"I am delighted to announce this contract win so soon after the acquisition of AVC Immedia. We firmly believe that this business is a fantastic addition to the group, as it strengthens our multi-media content offering for clients in our primary target sectors of retail, workforce, sport and education, as well as having a truly blue chip client list," said Chief Executive Bruno Brookes.
