Ilika Shows Battery Technology Can Work Under Extreme Temperatures

26th Mar 2019 13:30

LONDON (Alliance News) - Ilika PLC's solid-state batteries have been successfully tested to withstand rapid temperature change, the company said on Tuesday.

Ilika had previously shown the Stereax P180 battery could operate for a long period at temperatures up to 150 degrees celsius.

Ilika has now tested the battery whilst rapidly changing the room temperature between minus 25 celsius and 140 celsius, showing the product can "retain its performance".

Chief Executive Graeme Purdy said: "The continuous development of Ilika's solid state battery technology and the specification upgrade demonstrated today will enable a larger range of industrial applications to be powered by solid-state batteries, enabling more efficient monitoring of high value equipment in the semi-conductor industry for example."

Shares in Ilika were 2.8% higher on Tuesday afternoon at 37 pence each.
