LONDON (Alliance News) - Solid state battery technology company Ilika PLC on Tuesday said it has been granted a further patent for its Stereax battery technology in in China.
The China patent approval, for the application it filed with Toyota Motor Co in July 2011, follows the patents Ilika secured in Britain and in the US, and covers its vapour deposition processes used in producing solid-state batteries directly from the basic elements.
Ilika said it received a notice it had been granted the patent in China in June, a month after it launched its first sold-state battery intellectual property product, Stereax M250, which is designed for powering wireless sensors, referred to as the Internet of Things.
"The grant of this patent further demonstrates the global strength of Ilika's growing intellectual property portfolio in solid-state batteries. Internet of Things devices are developing at a rapid rate around the world and Ilika recognises the importance of protecting intellectual property in all of the key markets, including China," said Chief Executive Graeme Purdy.
Shares in Ilika were up 4.4% at 56.40 pence on Tuesday.
