Ilika Makes Progress On US, Europe Patent Applications

17th Mar 2015 08:32

LONDON (Alliance News) - Solid state battery technology company Ilika PLC Tuesday said it has received notices of intent to grant two patents in Europe and the US and said it has entered further applications.

Ilika said its has received a communication of intention to grant in Europe for one of its applications and a notice of allowance in the US for another. The patents were both jointly-filed with Japanese carmaker Toyota Motor Co and cover Ilika's vapour deposition processes.

The company added it has entered further international patent applications under the Patent Cooperation Treaty based on its earlier British priority applications. The UK patent for the vapour deposition technology was granted in May 2014.

"This announcement underlines the uniqueness of the technology developed by Ilika for the production of solid-state batteries. Securing granted patents in Europe and the USA, two of the major markets in our field, is a significant milestone in reinforcing the value of Ilika's technology position and is a key value driver for the business. We also plan to secure granted patents in all other major economic jurisdictions," said Ilika Chief Executive Officer Graham Purdy.

Ilika shares were up 3.1% to 77.3 pence in early trade on Tuesday.
