Idox Hires UK Government Veteran Moorhouse As Non-Executive Director

6th Jan 2016 09:14

LONDON (Alliance News) - Public sector software supplier Idox PLC on Wednesday said it has appointed Westminster veteran Barbara Moorhouse to its board as a non-executive director with immediate effect.

Moorhouse is the former chief operating officer for Westminster City Council and was the director-general of the UK's Ministry of Justice and of the Department of Transport.

During her time at Westminster City Council, Moorhouse faced accusations from a whistleblower that she had allegedly manipulated accounts to create a falsely bad picture in order to push through cuts to pay, jobs and public services. Westminster City Council responded that the whistleblower, Peter Duncan, who worked as a contracted financial analyst under Moorhouse, had only brought the allegations after his contract was not renewed.

She is currently a non-executive on the board of Agility Trains, the consortium handling the design and manufacture of long-distance trains for the UK's Intercity Express Programme, and is a non-executive at the Lending Standard Board, which ensures banks and building societies in the UK comply with lending regulations.

"We are delighted to welcome Barbara to the Idox board. Her blend of international commercial skills and experience of local and central government will be invaluable as we continue to pursue our growth strategy," said Idox Chairman Laurence Vaughan, who joined as chairman in August last year.

Idox shares were untraded on Wednesday, having last traded at 52.90 pence.
