ICAP Electronic Broking Volumes Rise In June But Down Year-On-Year

3rd Jul 2014 10:13

LONDON (Alliance News) - Interdealer broker ICAP PLC Thursday said that electronic broking volumes in June decreased by 14% year-on-year, but increased 6.0% on the figures reported for May.

In a statement, ICAP, which matches buyers and sellers in the wholesale markets in interest rates, credit, commodities, foreign exchange, emerging markets and equity derivatives, said that electronic broking average daily volumes totalled USD731.4 million in June.

The year-on-year fall was due to a 28% decline in US Treasury volumes and a 40% drop in EBS, ICAP's electronic FX business, which, along with an 8% fall in US Repo volumes, more than offset a 3% increase in European Repo volumes.

US Treasury volumes were 5% down on May, but overall volumes increased due to a 13% rise in US Repo volumes, an 8% rise in European Repo Volumes, and a 5% increase in EBS.

ICAP shares were Thursday quoted at 385.05 pence, up 2.2%.
