IAG Reports Rise In Traffic In May, Premium Traffic Also Up

3rd Jun 2015 14:12

LONDON (Alliance News) - International Consolidated Airline Group PLC Wednesday said traffic increased year-on-year in May as did its premium traffic.

The owner of British Airways and Spanish airlines Iberia and Vueling, which is also trying to add Aer Lingus to its stable, said traffic measured in revenue passenger kilometres increased by 5.7% in May compared with a year earlier and its most-profitable premium traffic rose by 4.6%.

Group capacity measured in available seat kilometres rose by 4.8%, meaning its load factor improved to 79.8% from 79.1%.

The improvement was apparent at all three airlines, with traffic outpacing capacity increases at all three. However, cargo tonne kilometres at British Airways declined 3.5% on the year.

IAG shares were down 1.8% to 545.00 pence per share on Wednesday afternoon.
