IAG Declares Final Dividend Of 17 Cents Ahead Of Annual Results

28th Feb 2020 06:51

(Alliance News) - International Consolidated Airlines Group SA on Thursday declared a final dividend of 17 euro cents per share.

Back in October, IAG declared a 14.5 cent interim dividend, flat on a year before. The 17 cent dividend declared Thursday raises this to 31.5 cents. IAG distributed a 66 cent total dividend in 2018, but this included a 35 cent special dividend, meaning an ordinary dividend of 31 cents.

IAG is set to release financial results for 2019 at 0700 GMT on Friday in London. The results will be the first update since Chief Executive Willie Walsh announced in January he would be leaving in March.

Analysts consensus, provided by British Airways owner IAG, is for an operating results before exceptional items of EUR3.27 billion. In 2018, the figure was EUR3.23 billion, meaning the market expects growth of 1.2%.

IAG's latest update came in December, showing a 4.7% rise in passenger numbers for 2019 to 118.3 million. Traffic in the year was 5.6% higher, while capacity rose 4.0%.

The load factor, a measurement of how many seats are filled, improved to 84.6% from 83.3%.

In focus, however, will be IAG's response to coronavirus, which originated in China but has now spread to Europe and other parts of the world.

Shares in IAG closed 7.9% lower in London on Thursday at 515.40 pence each.
