(Alliance News) - HydrogenOne Capital Growth PLC on Friday said a portfolio company's electrolysers are now in commercial operation at Finland's first industrial-scale green hydrogen plant.
The fund investing in clean hydrogen companies said P2X Solutions Oy has commenced operations at its Harjavalta green hydrogen plant, which uses electrolysis technology developed by portfolio company Sunfire AG. The plant has a production capacity of 20 megawatts.
Sunfire Chief Executive Officer Nils Aldag called the project a "flagship" for Europe, saying: "With the commercial operation of Sunfire's electrolyser now underway, P2X Solutions has achieved a major milestone in accelerating Finland's green hydrogen market."
HydrogenOne Managing Partner John Traynor added: "This marks an important step for Sunfire, P2X Solutions and Finland, establishing green hydrogen at a commercial scale, and once again demonstrating the robustness of Sunfire's product offering."
The Harjavalta facility is part of Finland's broader strategy to become a leading green hydrogen producer, with a national target of supplying at least 10% of the EU's hydrogen needs by 2030. The Finnish government has pledged EUR2.3 billion in state support for renewables and decarbonisation efforts.
As of December 30, HydrogenOne's investment in Sunfire accounted for 28% of its net asset value.
Shares in HydrogenOne were up 5.3% at 23.89 pence in London on Friday afternoon.
