Hurricane Energy Marks Progress On Lancaster Wells After Poor Output

27th Jul 2020 09:50

(Alliance News) - Hurricane Energy PLC on Monday said the electric submersible pumps on both the Lancaster early production system wells offshore west of Shetland have been commissioned.

The Surrey, England-based oil & gas explorer said well 205/21a-6 has now returned to natural flow, but well 205/21a-7z will continue being produced using an electric submersible pump.

After a period of pump testing, Lancaster EPS production has increased to 17,000 barrels of oil per day from 15,000 bopd as oil and water production from well 205/21a-7z has stabilised.

The update comes after Hurricane Energy suspended its 2020 production guidance in May as it failed to achieved its targeted production rate at the Lancaster field.

The original expected production rate of the two wells was 20,000 bopd.

Hurricane Energy shares were up 11% at 6.10 pence each on Monday morning in London.
