LONDON (Alliance News) - Hummingbird Resources PLC on Tuesday said it has signed a collaboration deal for the planning and development of a 20 to 30 megawatt hydro-electric plant in Liberia.
Hummingbird has signed the deal for the plant, to be based in southeast Liberia close to Hummingbird's Dugbe 1 gold project, with IFC InfraVentures, the IFC Global Infrastructure Fund and the Aldwych International, the Africa-focused energy company.
A pre-feasibility study, to be funded by IFC InfraVentures, will be carried out by Canadian firm Knight Piésold Consulting, to assess the technical and economic viability of the project.
"This collaboration represents an extremely exciting opportunity for Hummingbird, working together with two highly regarded partners, IFC InfraVentures and Aldwych International, to develop a sustainable source of power for Dugbe 1 and to secure the future domestic power supply for the southeast Liberian region and in particular the town of Greenville," said Hummingbird Chief Executive Dan Betts.
