Hummingbird Resources Improves Recovery Rates At Tuzon Deposit

29th Apr 2014 09:49

LONDON (Alliance News) - Hummingbird Resources PLC Tuesday said results of new test work have increased its recovery rates and reduced its cyanide consumption at the Tuzon Deposit, part of the Dugbe 1 project in Liberia.

The gold and silver mining company said extensive metallurgical test work, carried out as part of the site's detailed feasibility study have increased its recovery rates on site to roughly 90%, rather than 88% in its preliminary economic assessment.

The company said that leaching of its ore with lead nitrate had lead to a significant reduction in cyanide and lime consumption, with its cyanide consumption rate down 67% to 0.3 kilograms per tonne.

Hummingbird Resources said that based on a range of tests it has now confirmed that a 75 micron grind size for its plant is the best trade off of recovery against power costs at the site.

The company said it is now carrying out ongoing test work on the site and confirmed that it is fully funded beyond its detailed feasibility study.

Hummingbird Resources shares were up 0.1% to 49.55 pence Tuesday.
