LONDON (Alliance News) - Howden Joinery Group PLC said Wednesday that revenue increased by 15% in the 16 weeks to April 21, helped by "a weak comparative".
Revenue also benefited from an extra week of trading in 2018 compared to 2017. On a same depot basis, revenue was up 13% on a year before.
Excluding the first two weeks of the year, Howden Joinery UK revenue increased by 10% in 2018 overall and 8.6% on a same depot basis compared to the year before.
Howden opened three new depots so far this year with 30 depots planned for opening during 2018.
Looking forward, Howden said it remains on track with its plans for the year but notes "tougher comparatives" from the prior year moving forward. It also "remains watchful" of market conditions.
Shares in Howden Joinery were up 4.3% to 500.60 pence each. The trading statement accompanied the company's annual general meeting, held Wednesday.
