Hornby Signs Deal With DPD, Starts IT Platform Upgrade

10th Jul 2015 07:04

LONDON (Alliance News) - Models and collectibles retailer Hornby PLC on Thursday said it has signed a deal with parcel delivery company DPD and said it is making progress on upgrading its IT platform.

Hornby said the partnership with DPD will lead to the development of train station parcel collection via Doddle.

In addition, Hornby said the first stage of the roll out of an enterprise resource planning system has been undertaken to upgrade the company's IT platform.

"The delivery of these projects will strengthen our business model and ultimately benefit our customers. DPD runs an award-winning delivery service and with Doddle as a partner enthusiasts will have the convenience of being able to collect their model train purchases from a major train station near them," said Richard Ames, Hornby's chief executive.

Ames added the IT platform upgrade "will enable us to improve our planning and stock management processes in the UK considerably."

Hornby shares opened up 1.8% to 94.66 pence on Friday morning.
