LONDON (Alliance News) - Horizonte Minerals PLC said Thursday it has completed an aero survey covering the route of a power line into its Araguaia nickel project in Brazil.
The aero survey provides "high resolution digital topography and mapping of the power line route" as well as "detailed positioning for the transmission line pylons".
The nickel development company has also awarded contracts to cover the engineering design and permitting for the power line and substation infrastructure for the project.
Horizonte expects the Araguaia feasibility study "mid-year".
Chief Executive Jeremy Martin said: "Securing water and energy are key risks for any mining project. We announced earlier this year that we had secured the water abstraction permit for Araguaia's full-scale ferronickel operation and now we're advancing the energy infrastructure with the awards of contracts to experienced Brazilian power line consultants.
"The 230 kilovolt transmission line is a significant part of the Araguaia project, so it's an exciting time for the company to see this milestone progress, bringing us closer to the build-phase of the Araguaia project."
Shares in Horizonte Minerals were up 2.3% at 4.40 pence each Thursday.
