(Alliance News) - Hollywood Bowl Group PLC on Friday said it will reopen all of its English centres on August 1, in a move that follows UK governments announcement.
UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has said he will broadly lift the work-from-home guidance and set out major relaxations of the lockdown to pave the way for theatres and sports stadiums to reopen.
The prime minister said on Friday that it will be up to employers to discuss with workers whether it is safe to return from August 1, as he detailed new measures to tackle the coronavirus pandemic.
From that date, he said, most remaining leisure centres will reopen and indoor performances with live audiences can resume, with trials beginning for sports stadiums to reopen from October.
The ten-pin bowling operator noted that it has a "robust" reopening strategy and a "strong" balance sheet, meaning it is well placed to reopen 54 of its centres.
The remaining six centres in Scotland and Wales are ready to reopen once the restrictions in the devolved administrations are lifted, Hollywood Bowl said.
"We welcome today's announcement which will enable us to reopen all of our English centres on Saturday. We have been working hard developing social distancing policies, capacity management and enhanced sanitisation for our spacious centres," said Chief Executive Stephen Burns.
"They are ready to reopen and we look forward to welcoming back our team members and customers who will once again be able to enjoy a safe and enjoyable entertainment experience," added Burns.
Hollywood Bowl shares were trading 7.6% higher in London on Friday at 156.48 pence each.
