23rd Apr 2020 11:01

(Alliance News) - Hipgnosis Songs Fund Ltd on Thursday said it acquired 70% of the music catalogue of artist and producer Mark Ronson, famed for his collaborations with the likes of Amy Winehouse and Lady Gaga.

London-born Ronson has produced or co-written 83 number one singles and 209 top 10 hits globally, the FTSE 250 music intellectual property rights investor noted. Ronson's work has been streamed over one billion times on Spotify.

As a solo artist, Ronson has released five albums, one of them being platinum-certified Uptown Special, released in 2015. This album featured global hit Uptown Funk, the sixth highest viewed video of all time on Youtube, Hipgnosis said.

Hipgnosis Founder Merck Mercuriadis said: "Mark has been amongst the most exciting creators in the world over the last 20 years co-writing and producing records for the most important artists of their time including Amy Winehouse, Bruno Mars, Lady Gaga and Dua Lipa."

Shares in the company were 0.5% higher at 100.50 pence each in London on Thursday morning.
