Hipgnosis buys music catalogue of Fleetwood Mac's Christine McVie

9th Aug 2021 09:15

(Alliance News) - Hipgnosis Songs Fund Ltd on Monday said it has acquired a music catalogue from Christine McVie, one of the vocalists and song writers for the band Fleetwood Mac, for an undisclosed sum.

The catalogue contains the worldwide copyright, ownership and financial interest for 115 songs, including Everywhere, Little Lies and Don't Stop by Fleetwood Mac.

The catalogue produced USD1.7 million in revenue in 2020, in line with 2019. The songs collect 51% of their revenue through the writer's share, and 16% through neighbouring rights.

"In the last 46 years, the band have had three distinct writers and vocalists, but Christine's importance is amply demonstrated by the fact that eight of the 16 songs on the band's Greatest Hits albums are from Christine. It's wonderful for us to welcome Christine to the Hipgnosis Family and particularly wonderful to reunite her once again at Hipgnosis with Lindsey Buckingham. Between Christine and Lindsey we now have 48 of 68 songs on the band's most successful albums," said Founder Merck Mercuriadis.

Shares in Hipgnosis Songs Fund were up 0.3% at 123.60 pence on Monday in London.
