(Alliance News) - Hipgnosis Songs Fund Ltd on Friday said it has acquired a music catalogue from award-winning songwriter Ammar Malik for an undisclosed sum.
Ammar Malik was awarded BMI's "Songwriter of the Year" award in 2013 as well as BMI's "Song of the Year" award for co-writing 'Moves Like Jagger'.
Amongst the acquired catalogue are Maroon 5's 'Moves Like Jagger' featuring Christina Aguilera, Clean Bandit's 'Symphony' featuring Zara Larsson, and Gym Class Heroes' 'Stereo Hearts' featuring Adam Levine.
Hipgnosis has acquired 100% of Ammar Malik's copyright interests in the catalogue, which comprises 90 songs, including publishing and writers share of income.
Merck Mercuriadis, founder of The Family (Music) Ltd and Hipgnosis, said: "Ammar has been one of the most influential songwriters of the last ten years and songs like 'Moves Like Jagger' and 'Rockabye' are iconic. 'Moves Like Jagger' is now almost as famous as Mick Jagger himself."
The Family (Music) serves as an investment adviser to Hipgnosis.
Shares in Hipgnosis were 1.8% lower at 108.00 pence in London on Friday morning.
