LONDON (Alliance News) - Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC Monday said that Samih Darwazah, its founder and honorary life president, died on Friday at the age of 85.
Samih Darwazah founded the pharmaceuticals company in 1978 in Amman, Jordan, overseeing its transformation into a multinational group that employs more than 7,000 people.
Chief Executive Said Darwazah succeeded his father as chairman in May 2014, but Samih Darwazah remained a major shareholder.
The company listed on the London Stock Exchange in 2005 and entered the FTSE 100 index of blue chips in March. Its shares closed down 1.4% Monday at 2,071.00 pence.
