Henry Boot Gets Councillor Approval For Aberdeen Exhibition Centre

5th Mar 2015 10:47

LONDON (Alliance News) - Henry Boot PLC Thursday said councillors from Aberdeen City Council have approved the company's plan and business case for the new Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre in Scotland.

The new 750,000 square foot exhibition and conference centre will be more than double the size of the existing exhibition centre, and will include two hotels and an anaerobic digestion green energy centre, it said.

Following the approval from councillors, Henry Boot will now submit detailed plans targeting planning permission by the end of 2015 to develop the initial phase of the project, which is expected to cost about GBP300 million.

Construction is due to start in the middle of 2016, with the project due to be completed in late 2018.

The master plan for the site includes a further 400,000 square foot of business park accommodation and the redevelopment of the existing conference centre site, it said.

Henry Boot Developments owns the site on which the scheme will be built and will act as a development partner, alongside Aberdeen City Council, to deliver the project, said the company.

Henry Boot shares were up 0.7% to 221.48 pence per share on Thursday morning.
