(Alliance News) - Construction group Henry Boot PLC on Friday said it has completed construction enabling works at its 21 hectare Airport Business Park Scheme in Southend, Essex.
The scheme is a GBP90 million gross development value joint venture between Henry Boot's development business and Southend-on-Sea Council and is set to create 3,500 jobs in the area.
Completion of theworks has allowed Henry Boot to secure outline planning permission for 1.0 million square feet of flexible business space at the site. This is an addition to Henry Boot's industrial offering, which currently makes up approximately 74% of its GBP1.4 billion development pipeline.
The scheme secured IPECO Holdings as its first occupier back in July, which took possession of a purpose-built building used for seating manufacturing for aircraft crews.
Managing Director Ed Hutchinson said: "ABPS is a significant development both for Henry Boot and Southend, creating valuable industrial and logistic space and employment in the area. Work is continuing to progress quickly on site, and we look forward to securing further tenants and submitting planning for further aspects of the scheme in the coming weeks."
Shares in Henry Boot closed 1.1% lower at 266.00 pence in London on Friday.
