Henry Boot appointed to deliver GBP162 million aviation campus

19th Sep 2025 09:30

(Alliance News) - Henry Boot PLC on Friday said its property investment arm HBD has been chosen as development partner for a GBP162 million aviation technology campus at Imperial War Museums Duxford, south of Cambridge.

The 25-acre scheme, known as Duxford AvTech, will deliver 435,000 square feet of space within the Oxford-Cambridge Arc, with a focus on advancing low- and zero-carbon aircraft technology. The project is a joint initiative with Imperial War Museums and Gonville & Caius College, part of the University of Cambridge.

Henry Boot said the campus aims to achieve high sustainability standards, targeting BREEAM excellent certification and an EPC A+ rating.

The development is expected to generate 1,200 jobs and add GBP64 million in gross value to the Cambridgeshire economy. A planning application is due before the end of 2025.

The scheme builds on HBD's innovation pipeline, following approval for the GBP1 billion Golden Valley project in Cheltenham, which will deliver 1 million square feet of commercial space and nearly 600 homes.

Chief Executive Officer Tim Roberts said: "HBD's appointment at Duxford AvTech represents another important milestone for our property investment and development business. This is a transformative scheme that will unlock meaningful opportunities for the local economy and further strengthen Cambridge's position as a global hub for research and innovation."

Shares in Henry Boot were down 0.9% to 217.00 pence in London on Friday morning.
