Henderson Smaller Cos Underperforms Index In First Quarter

LONDON (Alliance News) - The Henderson Smaller Companies Investment Trust PLC Friday said it underperformed against its benchmark index in the first quarter of the financial year.

Henderson Smaller Cos said its net asset value per share, including current financial year revenue items and adjusting for the dividend of 6.5p per share, increased by 8.1% between June 1 and September 30, while its benchmark, the Numis Smaller Companies Index increased by 8.6% on a total return basis.

The investor in smaller UK-listed companies said its NAV per share, including current financial year revenue items, was 577.6 pence on September 30.

On September 30, the company's borrowings were GBP34.9 million, representing gearing of 8.1%.

The trust's shares were Friday quoted flat at 519.0 pence.
