Henderson International Under-Performs Benchmark In Full Year

5th Nov 2014 16:56

LONDON (Alliance News) - Henderson International Income Trust PLC Wednesday said it had underperformed its benchmark in the year to end-August, citing uneven global economic recovery and ongoing geopolitical risks hitting market confidence.

The trust saw a total return on net asset valuer per share of 9.7%, compared to a 13.7% return for the MSCI World ex UK Index.

It posted a rise in total dividend to 4.25 pence, up from 4.05 pence a year before.

"Some developed markets such as the US, UK and some parts of Europe continued to recover well, whilst there was a weaker recovery for the larger part of Europe and emerging markets," the company said in a statement.

The trust said that with a gradual return to global growth and increasing employment its outlook continues to improve.

"We acknowledge that there are shorter term challenges, but we continue to expect to deliver a growing income, and longer-term growth in asset value," the trust said in a statement.

Shares in Henderson closed up 0.9% at 114.50 pence Wednesday.
